Cause of death
Sanitation workers made a shocking discovery after blowing up the trunk of a dark sedan without license plates they were towing from 160-47 Lefferts Boulevard in Ozone Park just before 10 a.m.
Footage from the scene shows her body in the trunk of a dark hybrid Toyota. It was unclear if it was the same car. Police officers set up a crime scene after the body was found and transferred it to the city’s Medical Examiner’s Office.
It was not immediately clear how long the victim had been dead. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
The towing crew left with the vehicle, then noticed a problem with a tire and stopped on Lefferts Boulevard to open the trunk and search for a new one, New York Police Chief Reuben Beltran said. Police said the truck reached South Ozone Park when the body was found.
