According to People, DMX died on April 9, 2021 after suffering a heart attack the week before. He was 50 years old. His family released a statement to People that said:
We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, whose birth name is Earl Simmons, passed away at age 50 at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being on life support for the past days. Earl was a warrior who fought to the end. I loved his family with all of his heart and we appreciated the time we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans around the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we mourn the loss of our brother, father, uncle, and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once the details are finalized.
He was admitted to White Plains Hospital in White Plains, New York, on April 2, 2021 after suffering a heart attack, TMZ reported.
