Davy Propper Wiki
Davy Propper Biography
Who is Davy Propper ?
EX-BRIGHTON and Dutch star Davy Propper have retired in their 30s after falling in love with soccer.
The midfielder left Albion to join PSV Eindhoven in the summer after having made just 11 appearances for the Seagulls last season.
Propper was greatly affected by his isolation from his family when Covid struck and affected his motivation.
He was hoping that returning to Eindhoven, which sold it to Albion for around £ 6 million in 2017, would help him rediscover his passion for the game, but sadly he has decided to quit.
Propper, who won 19 games for his country, said: “During the period I was abroad, I noticed that I was slowly losing the pleasure of football.
“It was extremely difficult for me to muster the discipline necessary to perform at my best and let my life be completely determined by the busy schedule of football.
“The period of the coronavirus and the lack of visits from family and friends did not help me either.”
Propper made 121 appearances for the Seagulls and will take time to decide what to do next.
Netherlands the fun in football would return
He added: “I was hoping that with my return to the Netherlands the fun in football would return.
“Unfortunately, that has not turned out to be so easy, partly because I don’t feel comfortable in the culture of football.
“Still, I have adapted to it for a long time and sometimes I closed it. I don’t want that anymore and that’s why I’m done. ”
Propper became the Seagulls’ record signing when Chris Houghton was the club’s manager.
But since then, Brighton has beaten its transfer record multiple times, and its current most expensive signing is defender Adam Webster, who joined the club for a whopping £ 22 million in 2019.
