Who was Davie Wilson?
RANGERS, Dundee United and Scotland legend Davie Wilson has died at the age of 85.
The much-loved former star, who had been suffering from dementia in recent years, made 373 appearances in 11 seasons at Ibrox, scoring 158 goals before leaving the club in 1967 to join Dundee United.
The winger, who remained a regular in matches despite his health battle, was also part of the Rangers squad that reached the 1961 European Cup Winners’ Cup final against Fiorentina.
Wilson won the title four times with Rangers, as well as five Scottish Cups and two League Cups.
Career
He also enjoyed a successful career internationally.
The former attacker made 22 appearances for Scotland and scored 22 times.
After an 11-year career in his beloved Gers, he spent five seasons at Dundee United before ending his playing career at Dumbarton.
Confirming his passing, a statement from Rangers read: “Wilson was a three-time Hall of Fame inductee with Rangers, Dundee United and Scotland having contributed great achievements and success to each of these teams.
“Davie was said to ‘love the Rangers with every breath’.

The thoughts of the Rangers directors, staff and players are with Davie’s family and friends today.”

While a fellow Gers supporter commented: “A true Ranger. Very sad news. Thank you for everything Mr. Wilson.”
