Darrell Peak Biography
Darrell Peak was a missing Missouri father who along with his two young sons were found dead in a rural area four days after the man left home armed with a gun with no apparent plan to return. The bodies of Peak, three-year-old Mayson Peak and four-year-old Kaiden Peak were discovered Monday night inside an abandoned structure on US 65 near Route T in Benton County.

Sheriff’s detectives were said to have made several attempts to issue an Amber Alert for the children, but the case did not meet the necessary criteria. The incident began to unfold around 4 p.m. Thursday when Darrell left home with his children.
He was said to be armed with a pistol that he was known to carry regularly.
Mayson and Kaiden’s mother, Bonnie Peak, told Fox 2 Now before the tragic discovery Monday that Darrell was “angry” when he left, but claimed it was out of place for him to leave with the children and not return.
“I don’t believe for a second that he would physically harm our children, ever, in a million years [sic],” the mother said. “He is a very good father and a good person. I know he’s going through a lot lately and I don’t know if he’s just going through a mental breakdown.
“I think he wanted to go alone and I think the kids were in the car when he got in my car and drove away.”
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported Peak was suffering from depression and had made suicidal statements in the past.

The bodies were found not far from where a state trooper approached the Peak family last Thursday but declined assistance, according to a statement from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. The policeman’s meeting with the father and children took place 16 hours before his disappearance was officially reported.
Around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper stopped along US 65 to help Peak with his disabled vehicle. According to the police officer, the children were with Peak and appeared to be fine at the time, and the father refused to help.
Less than 30 minutes later, a Benton County deputy saw who she believed to be Peak and her children traveling on foot on US 65.
She turned around to see how they were doing, but they were gone. Then, around 7 pm that day, a 911 call came in about a man and two young children walking along State Highway 65. Cops searched the area but couldn’t find the family.

At around 10:30 a.m. Friday, Peak’s family contacted authorities and filed a missing person report.
Later that day, a statewide “be alert” alert was issued for the missing father and children.

Despite the family’s belief that Peak would not harm his children, on Sunday the Greene County prosecutor charged Peak with two counts of parental kidnapping, in the hope that he would generate additional leads and leads.
