Original story
A conference call for a Florida man accused of assaulting his daughter and her dog is scheduled for Monday via Zoom, CBS 5 reports.
Damon Becnel was arrested for pedophilia and animal cruelty on January 2, 2020, after his 14-year-old daughter secretly searched her home in Destin, according to police.
As previously reported, an arrest report from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office indicates that the victim brought the video to authorities on December 24, 2019. The videos allegedly painted a disturbing picture of what was happening inside. the house behind closed doors.
The incident began when the victim intervened after Becnel allegedly threatened to cut out the eyes of the family dog and “strangle the mother.” He then allegedly grabbed the cub by the neck and threw him to the ground.
“I’m going to cut out this dog’s eyes (explicitly removed), I’m going to do this (explicitly removed),” Becnel allegedly said.
When the teenager tried to protect the pet from her, her father allegedly grabbed her hair and beat her. In the end, he hit his head on the head of a bed.
A second part of the video shows how the suspect is still searching the girl’s hair with his hand, police say. As Becnel yelled at the teenager, he shoved her with his head.
The girl’s mother, Allison Tringas, told ABC 3 that she and her daughter had long tried to implicate authorities in the alleged abuse against Becnel, but no one listened or believed them until the girl registered them.
“Nothing was done. Nothing was ever done to help my daughter … She absolutely knew something bad was going to happen and no one would believe her if she didn’t have it in the movie. ”
Assistant District Attorney William Bishop previously said that Becnel should not have contact with the victim.
“We refer this case to an experienced prosecutor who specializes in child abuse. She would be the deputy prosecutor for law enforcement. We intend to actively pursue this matter, ”Bishop said.
