“Crystal Rogers” disappeared in 2015
It’s been more than five years since Kentucky’s mother, Crystal Rogers, disappeared from her boyfriend’s family farm overnight. During the holiday season, her mother will honor her memory by giving special gifts to Crystal’s children she now cares for.
“Every Christmas I always get presents, but this year I give them special gifts from their mother,” said Sherry Ballard. “Normally I don’t, but this year I do. I mean, I don’t want to ruin your day, but this year I want you to have something special from your mom. “”
Three of Rogers’ five children, ages 15, 17 and 19, have lived with their grandmother since their mother passed away on July 3, 2015.
Brooks Houck said?
At the time of her disappearance, her boyfriend Brooks Houck told police that the couple had slept together, but when he woke up, she was gone. The couple had a son together. Houck has never been charged with any crime.
Months later, however, Houck was identified as the prime suspect in the Rogers case and his brother Nick was fired from the local police department after being accused of disrupting the investigation. per Kentucky standard.
A year after Roger’s disappearance, his father, Tommy Ballard, was killed while hunting with his son and 12-year-old grandson. Tommy Ballard never stopped looking for his daughter, says his wife. No arrests were made in connection with his death.
While his family enjoys keeping spirits up on Christmas Day, Ballard says the chaos from his recent losses persists.
“It’s just that it’s always a difficult time for us. I know people say it happens before [but] it doesn’t get any easier, “said Ballard, crying.” I don’t know where people got this idea from … it’s still very difficult.
In July, human remains were found near where Rogers was last seen alive. However, federal authorities announced in November that the remains did not belong to Rogers.
