Cheshire Police Detective Chief Inspector Paul Hughes said: ‘Smith killed her husband Michael in such a painful and cruel way.
‘Throwing boiling water on someone when he is asleep is absolutely horrible. Mixing three bags of sugar with the water also demonstrated her determination to cause serious harm.
‘The sugar that is put in the water makes it vicious. It becomes thicker and stickier and sinks better into the skin.

Ms Morris added: ‘She confessed to the murder of her husband, but the CPS refused to accept it. The CPS case was that his actions were deliberate and considered.
She was clearly upset about the dispute between her, her daughter, and her husband, but the evidence showed that she was in control of her and acted in anger when she poured the lethal mixture on her husband and wanted revenge on her. her.
The Crown Prosecution Service said that she intended to kill Michael or cause him really serious harm, and therefore she initiated a murder trial.
