Who is Connor Wolfe ?
A five-year-old boy was shot and killed by his six-year-old brother in their Pennsylvania home while they were playing in a bedroom near an unsecured gun.
Five-year-old Connor Wolfe was left unsupervised in the bedroom with his older brother and another boy when he was shot at their Penn Hills home Monday night.
The incident is being investigated by local police and Allegheny County homicide detectives.
“The initial investigation shows that there were children playing in a back bedroom when one of the children was shot,” Allegheny County Police Department Lt. Venerando Costa told KDKA.
“We are still working to find out how that happened, but the boy was pronounced deceased in a hospital.”
It’s always hard when you’re kids, it just is. They are innocent, so it is always difficult, ” he added.
The Allegheny County Police Department also said they spoke to the parents, but no charges have yet been filed.
The children’s neighbors have been heartbroken by the tragic incident.
“I’m so sad this happened,” Shari Robinson told KDKA. “Guns have to be locked because children don’t know they think they are toys, and they have to be locked because this is what happens.”
“They are nice children, very nice children, they always talk, very polite,” added her husband Alfred Robinson. ‘I just can’t believe it. It’s just awful, it’s difficult. ‘
The couple also said they are praying and thinking about family.
“I just pray for the family, I hope they make it,” they said.
The Police Department and Penn Hills School District are also offering emotional support in response to the accident.
“The Penn Hills School District confirms the passing of our kindergarten student Connor Wolfe yesterday,” the district said in a statement.
‘We ask all members of our PH community to remember Connor and his family in his thoughts and prayers.
“Counselors and social workers will continue to be accessible to students and staff who need additional support during this difficult time.”
This incident comes after a four-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the face in East Liberty on Monday morning.
The young man was taken to the Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He had been identified as Ajani Lane and a guardian was found to be present at the home at the time of the shooting.
No criminal charges have been filed in this case as of yet.
