Clive Porter Biography
Former police officer Clive Porter, 63, was killed after being attacked on the canal towpath at Broughton, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, around 12:20 pm on Monday.
The policeman, who served in the Hertfordshire police until his retirement, died of head injuries at the scene.
A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of crimes related to the murder.

Investigations
The force attended a report of an assault on the Grand Union Canal near Broughton in Aylesbury at around 12:20 p.m. Monday. While attending, a man was found seriously injured. He tragically died at the scene despite the best efforts of officers and paramedics.
Following a formal identification procedure today, the victim has been identified as Clive Porter, 63, of Tring, Hertfordshire.
In addition, a post-mortem examination was carried out at the Interior Ministry on Wednesday and the cause of death is pending. Two arrests have been made in connection with this investigation.
Arrested
A 34-year-old man with no fixed address has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 41-year-old woman from Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of helping a criminal and perverting the course of justice. The woman has been released on police bail until May 24, while the man is in the custody of officers receiving hospital treatment.
Chief Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Shearwood of the Thames Valley Police Major Crimes Unit, said: ‘Officers are continuing this investigation into Mr. Porter’s death, and we have made two arrests in connection with her.
‘I would like to offer reassurance to the community that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this crime.
