Christopher Plummer Biography
Oscar-winning actor Christopher Plummer has passed away. He was 91 years old.
The legendary actor’s death was confirmed by family members, according to Deadline.
“Chris was an extraordinary man who deeply loved and respected his profession with excellent old-fashioned manners, a self-deprecating humor and the music of words,” said Lou Pitt, his longtime friend and manager of his for 46 years at a statement. “He was a national treasure who deeply enjoyed his Canadian roots. Through his art and humanity, he touched all of our hearts and his legendary life will endure for all generations to come. He will be with us forever. ”
Plummer is perhaps best known for his performance with Julie Andrews in 1965’s “The Sound of Music.”
In a 2009 interview, he recalled her friendship with Andrews after working with her on the iconic film.
“I’m very fond of Julie,” he told NPR. “That’s the cutest thing she came out of that movie for me. We have a great and true friendship. She is an extraordinary, professional woman. I am grateful to the movie in many ways because it was such a great success. It is not my favorite movie, of course, because I think it borders on mockery ”.
Most recently, he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for playing a 75-year-old widower who comes out as gay in 2012’s “Beginners.”
