Death of Manny Caulk
Manny Caulk, a Fayette County School Superintendent in Lexington, Kentucky, died at the age of 49, sparking a flood of tributes.
According to WKYT, the news came from the president of the Fayette County Board of Education, Stephanie Spiers, in a letter to families. “Tonight, I write to you with great regret to inform you of the death of our superintendent, Emmanuel Caulk, who has led our district since 2015,” he wrote.
“We are grateful for Manny’s servant leadership and passion for our two moral imperatives: accelerating achievement for students who have not yet reached proficiency level and challenging students who are already proficient to global proficiency.” wrote Spiers.
The death was unexpected. The cause of death was not disclosed. However, according to Kentucky.com, in 2015, Caulk underwent surgery “to remove a malignant tumor from her sinus cavity.” However, it is not clear if that ailment was related to her death.
“We ask that you keep Manny, his family, and everyone who loved him in your thoughts and prayers, while respecting his privacy during this incredibly difficult time. Arrangements to honor her life and work are incomplete at this time, but will be sent to our FCPS family when finalized, ”wrote Spiers.
As the news spread, tributes arrived.
