Who is Charlyne Yi?
Born on January 4, 1986. Charlyne Yi grew up in Fontana, California. In high school, Yi was actively involved in the theater. He later attended the University of California, Riverside. However, he left to pursue a full-time comedy career. She is known as Charlyne Amanda Yi.
In light of S*xual Assault Awareness Month, actress Charlyne Yi took to Instagram to call actor James Franco and explain why she quit “The Disaster Artist,” the 2017 biographical comedy-drama starring and directed by Franco.

Yi has had an illustrious career over the years, as she is also a screenwriter, actress, comedian, and artist. Her acting style is big on audience participation and she is known to have elements of music, magic, and games.

Yi explained her transition from comedy to poetry in an interview with UPI. “My comedy suddenly got a little funny, and then I started using that material in poetry venues,” she explained Yi.

The actress, who took out a restraining order against her parents for abusing her, spoke about the darkest details of her life. “I realized that much of my life was repressed due to the conditions I was living in, in regards to my abusive parents,” she explained. “I realized that it’s really scary, to be honest about what’s going on, but I also realized that a large part of my life had been having to keep secrets and having to protect others from me …”

Amid the sexual allegations that came to light about Franco’s behavior, Yi tried to break a legal contract, seeing that she did not feel safe working with the actor. Instead of addressing the issue, however, the actress maintains that she was bribed with a bigger role. She specifically called Seth Rogen, who was a producer on the film, seeing that her concerns fell on deaf ears. In her Instagram post, she explained her ordeal.
Caption reads: “Seth Rogen was one of the producers on this movie, so he definitely knows about bribery and why I quit. Seth also did a sketch on SNL with Franco allowing Franco to prey on children. Right after Franco was captured. Franco has a long history of taking advantage of children. This is in addition to all the corrupt laws protecting predators made by violent white men. Denying / gaslighting is a tactic used by abusers and facilitators that is psychological violence and has serious effects: the survivor loses the sense of reality / intuition to protect himself from the target again, PTSD, suicidal thoughts / suicide, etc.
This month is S*xual Assault Awareness Month, when it really should be something for men to educate themselves about their entire lives and learn how to be there and protect women, non-binary, trans, etc.
Twitter users also supported the actress. “Charlyne Yi criticizes Seth Rogen for allowing James Franco’s predatory behavior,” tweeted one user. “I have loved Seth Rogen for a long time, but I cannot pretend that his association with the known abuser James Franco is harmful.
