Cotter said there were a “series of violent incidents” as the defendant’s relationship with Nash deteriorated.

When he started a new relationship, Jessop “was still obsessed” with Nash, he said.

Nash had spoken to police about him the morning of the day she died and the level of risk to her was assessed as “medium,” Cotter said.

“She recorded the problems she was having with Charles Jessop, but she did not want to make a statement,” she said.

She was “given advice” and agreed to email the police a recording of one of Jessop’s phone calls, but the recording did not arrive until the next day, “probably due to the size of the file,” the prosecutor said. .

He said he was “given advice” and agreed to send police a recording of one of Jessop’s phone calls.

An officer received an email from Ms. Nash at 8.29 p.m. of that day with her and Jessop’s contact numbers.

An email containing Jessop’s voicemail message did not arrive until the next day, January 17, “probably due to the size of the file,” Cotter said.

Jessop will claim that the antidepressant drug Citalopram affected him, Cotter added.

When he was interviewed the day after his arrest, Jessop claimed that he suffered from anxiety and thought that he might be schizophrenic.

But Jessop from Newmarket was later seen by a psychiatrist who stated that there was no evidence that he had schizophrenia.

Instead, it was concluded that he suffered from a form of personality disorder that did not “explain the murder,” Cotter said.

In a later interview, he alleged that Ms. Nash “played a lot of mind games.” When asked by the police to explain her actions, he replied: ‘Good, done, no comment.’

Cotter said there was evidence that Jessop behaved “in an obsessive and controlling manner” for several months.

He said that Ms. Nash called the police on December 4, 2019 and told an officer that she attended that Jessop had slapped her, but that she did not want to file a complaint.

She called the police again a week later, on December 11, during an argument with him in Soham, Cambridgeshire, but the battery on her phone died.

The court heard how Ms Nash ran to an Indian restaurant and said: ‘She is going to kill Me. She calls the police. ‘

She called police a third time on January 14, 2020 to say that she had received repeated threatening calls from him.

Officers were not able to see her immediately due to “resource problems,” but she gave him safety advice over the phone and she said the calls had stopped.

An officer tried to see her the next day and left a voicemail message and a note at her address when she was not home.
