The incident occurred at 11:40 p.m. July 3 Main Street near Independence Street in Cape Girardeau, downtown Missouri. Police said the 12-year-old was at the time with his dance coach Michael Curry and another student. Moore stepped onto the sidewalk where police described it as a dark sports car. He then did his own dance on the sidewalk as he approached the boy. Later, Moore struck the boy behind the head with “excessive force”, as described by the police, causing the boy to fall to the ground.
