Who is Carrington Maddox?
A man was arrested Thursday and charged with a hate crime for allegedly slapping a Hasidic man who was walking in Williamsburg, police said.
Carrington Maddox, 31, was charged with hate crime aggravated harassment and threats for attacking a 27-year-old man dressed in traditional clothing on Monday, according to police.
A stranger approached the victim and randomly slapped him on the left side of the face in front of 144 Lynch St. around 4:30 p.m. – the third suspected anti-Semitic attack in Brooklyn in two days, according to police.
Maddox was arrested on a tip to the NYPD’s CrimeStoppers hotline, police said.
The attack came a day after two other disturbing attacks on Jewish men in the neighborhood, police said.
The two assaults occurred within minutes of each other just after 6 a.m. Sunday, police said.
The Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force is also investigating them.
Surveillance video of the first incident shows an attacker shooting a 72-year-old man dressed in traditional Hasidic garb with white spray from a fire extinguisher at Taylor Street and Lee Avenue.
