Brett Blomme Biography
Brett Blomme is the first gay judge who was elected to the circuit court in August 2020 and is currently assigned to the Milwaukee County Children’s Court. He previously served as an assistant city attorney in Madison and also as an assistant public defender.
His LinkedIn profile also lists that he served as a legislative aide in the Wisconsin State Assembly between 2009 and 2011.

Bloome holds a BA in political science and government from Marquette University and a JD from the University of Missouri – Columbia. He is originally from Missouri. In addition to a distinguished legal career, the 38-year-old also has extensive experience in non-profit organizations.
He was President and CEO of the Cream City Foundation, an LGBTQ advocacy group and Director of Major Giving at AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin.
With the endorsement of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, he became the first self-identified gay judge in the county.

Mr. Blomme lives in Cottage Grove with her husband and her two children. Her husband, Chris, is the assistant director of orientations at UW-Madison.
The couple also have a second home in Milwaukee’s Lennox Heights neighborhood.

Previously, some publications incorrectly reported that he was also the leader of the Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) organization. That has since been discredited. Cream City Foundation “acted as the fiscal sponsor of the Milwaukee chapter of DQSH,” but is a completely separate entity, as reported by Snopes.

“Brett has never held a title or position within our organization,” said Jonathan Hamilt, executive director of the DQSH organization. His Instagram profile is filled with images from his election campaign, where he defeated incumbent Paul Dedinsky, backed by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

Judge Blomme was suspended after his arrest for possession and uploading of photographs of children.
According to the criminal complaint, Blomme uploaded up to 27 explicit images and videos to the social messaging app Kik between October and November 2020. He has now been released under multiple conditions, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 29.

The criminal complaint filed claims that Blomme was uploading content to Kik via the username “DomMasterbb”. The case first came to light after the Kik user was reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Led by Special Agent Tamar Taubel of the Criminal Investigations Division, investigators were able to link that account to Blomme through his email accounts. The complaint also claims that Blomme uploaded images of a friend’s home.
In the complaint, the friend is simply referred to as “Individual B”. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, that individual “confirmed to investigators that Blomme was at his home on days when the friend’s Internet service displayed DomMasterBB loads of child p * rnography.”
Subsequent investigations revealed charges at Blomme’s home and in the judge’s room.
Brett Blomme arrested
He was arrested on Tuesday, March 16, and taken to the Dane County Jail. Since he was arrested, Blomme has been suspended from all judicial duties without pay.
Each count against Blomme carries a minimum sentence of three years with the potential of up to 15 years with 10 years of supervised release. While the case is ongoing, Child Protective Services will place Blomme’s two adopted children elsewhere.
Court documents indicate that they were not involved in sexual exploitation.
