Stunning surveillance footage shows the moment a brave Good Samaritan accosted California dance club mass shooter Huu Can Tran, clutching his semi-automatic assault pistol even though he was sure he was about to die.

Brandon Tsay, 26, was seen fighting with the 72-year-old shooter as he stormed into the Lai Lai Ballroom & Studio after shooting 10 people to death and wounding numerous others at a nearby ballroom in Monterey Park on Saturday the night.

The computer coder told “Good Morning America” on Monday that he didn’t think to hear the ballroom door slam until it was “instantly followed by the sound of a metal object colliding.”

“That’s when I turned around and there was an Asian man with a gun,” he said of the terrifying scene in his family’s ballroom.

Tsay, who had never seen a gun before, said it was immediately clear the gunman “wasn’t here to rob us.”

“When he looked around the room, it seemed like he was looking for targets. People to hurt,” the heroic bystander told “GMA,” recalling how the mass shooter “began to ready his weapon.” He also told the New York Times that the man’s “eyes were menacing.”

“Something occurred to me, I realized I needed to take the gun away from him,” he told the morning show, which shared surveillance footage of his heroic fight that authorities say “saved lives.”

He knew that he “needed to take this weapon [and] disarm it or else they would all have died,” he said.

“When I got up the courage, I lunged at him with both hands, grabbed the gun, and we had a fight” to control the gun, he said.

“He was hitting me in the face, especially the back of the neck. I was trying to use my elbows to separate the gun from him, create some distance,” she recalled of his heroic fight caught on camera.

“I thought he would run away, but he was just standing there contemplating whether to fight or run. I really thought he would have to shoot her,” Tsay told the ABC News morning show.

“This is when he turned around and walked out the door [and] ran back to the truck,” he said of the gunman, who later shot himself while surrounded by police officers.

“I immediately called the police with the gun still in my hand,” he said.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna had confirmed the killer had been disarmed by heroes in the second scene who “saved lives.”

The crazed 72-year-old mass shooter later killed himself in his truck.
“This could have been so much worse,” the sheriff said.

He initially said that two bystanders fought back, but footage from “GMA” showed that Tsay was alone.

“It was just my son. He could have died,” his father, Tom Tsay, told the Times. “He’s lucky, someone was taking care of him.”

Victims

Tsay said he was left with “bruises all over his body” and “shaking all night” in shock, but realized he was lucky to be alive.

“A lot of people have been telling me how much courage I had,” he told “GMA”.

“But you know what courage is: courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to have adversity to fear when terrifying events happen, like this.

“And in a crisis like this, people need courage, especially the victims, their friends, their families. My heart goes out to everyone involved,” he said.

“I hope they can find the courage and strength to persevere.”
