Billye Aaron Wiki

                                Billye Aaron Biography

Billye Aaron is Hank Aaron’s wife. He was an American professional baseball right fielder who played 23 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), from 1954 to 1976. He spent 21 seasons with the Milwaukee / Atlanta Braves in the National League (NL) and two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers in the American League (AL).

Aaron is considered one of the best baseball players of all time. His 755 career home runs broke the MLB record set by Babe Ruth and he remained the oldest for 33 years; Aaron still has many other MLB batting records. He hit 24 or more home runs each year from 1955 to 1973, and is one of only two players to hit 30 or more home runs in a season at least fifteen times. In 1999, The Sporting News ranked Aaron fifth on its “100 Greatest Baseball Players” list. In 1982, he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

Billye Aaron and Hank Aaron

He married Billye Suber Williams on November 13, 1973. With his second wife, he had a son, Ceci. Aaron was a Catholic and had converted in 1959 with his family. He and his wife first became interested in the faith after the birth of their first child, whom they immediately baptized. A friendship with a Catholic priest later helped Hank and his wife convert. Aaron was known for frequently reading Thomas à Kempis’s 15th century book, The Imitation of Christ, which he kept in his locker.

As the world mourns MLB legend Hank Aaron, it stands to reason that we take a moment to acknowledge his wife of 48 years, Billye Aaron, not only for her tremendous loss, but also for her significant contributions to the black society and culture.

“Hammerin ‘Hank,” as he was sometimes called, will probably be best remembered for breaking Babe Ruth’s historic 1974 home run record in the face of fierce racist opposition and death threats, according to The Washington Post. Born and raised in Alabama during the days of segregation, the National Baseball Hall of Famer used his influence in sports to advocate for civil rights on the road.

And Billye was no different. While her husband broke records on the baseball field, she broke glass ceilings and racial barriers in the television industry in the South. She was a fierce advocate for education, especially for the underprivileged, and worked as a non-profit executive. She meets Billye a bit more after the jump.

Hank Aaron Cause of death

Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron, the Baseball Hall of Famer who broke Babe Ruth’s all-time home run record against racism and became a revered ambassador for the game, has died. He was 86 years old.

His team of his longtime, the Atlanta Braves, said in a statement that Aaron “passed away in his sleep.” The cause of death was not disclosed.

“We are absolutely devastated by the passing of our beloved Hank,” Braves president Terry McGuirk said in a statement. “He was a beacon for our organization, first as a player, then with player development and always with the efforts of our community. His incredible talent and determination helped him achieve the highest achievements, but he never lost his humble nature.

“Henry Louis Aaron was not just our icon, but one in the majors and around the world. His success on the diamond was equaled only by his commercial accomplishments off the field and crowned by his extraordinary philanthropic efforts. ”

Major League Baseball Commissioner Robert Manfred Jr. called his friendship with Aaron “one of the greatest honors of my life” and praised “Hank’s impact on our sport and society.”

“Hank Aaron is near the top of the list of all the great players of all time,” Manfred said in a statement.

“His monumental accomplishments of him as a player were second only to his dignity and integrity as a person. Hank symbolized the best of our game, and his all-round excellence gave Americans and fans around the world an example to aspire to. His career shows that a person who goes to work with humility every day can make his way through history and find a way to shine like no other. ”

The reaction to Aaron’s death and the memories spilled over Friday from the world of sports and politics.
