However, another person wrote that the shooting was due to an argument between two people rather than an active shooter type situation. Social media reports said the shooting may have broken out at the Nordstrom store, but authorities have not confirmed this information or any details of what is happening.
Local10 reported that Aventura police had responded to the mall after reports of shooting there, and were searching the mall while people were hiding in various locations. One person tweeted: “Shooting at Aventura Mall Miami just a few minutes ago … total hysteria leaving the mall … I heard 8 shots right outside Norstrom’s they sounded as close as the LV store … the line was too much long to buy, so I walked and 10 minutes later shots rang out … ”
One person wrote on Twitter: “I was at the Aventura Mall in Miami, and literally 15 feet away from these guys arguing, he pulls out a gun and drops 6 rounds … people running, pushing to find a safe place to hide. .. Count your blessings, hug your loved ones, tell someone you love them. ”
‘Everyone Was Running,’ a Witness Wrote and Shooting
Witnesses reported the situation on social media. “Shooting at the Aventura mall, I was very afraid for my children. I literally walked in and everyone was running, ”wrote one woman. “Stay away from Aventura Mall, the active shooter is inside and people are hiding in stores and fitting rooms,” wrote another.
“My brother called to tell me that he had just fled the Aventura Mall because a wild shooting happened at the Nordstrom, thank goodness he’s okay,” another person wrote.
