A Texas teacher’s aide was jailed after she admitted to having s*x with three teenage students after initially claiming she thought it was legal to do so.
Ashlyn Faye Bell, 24, was sentenced to four years behind bars by an all-female jury in Bowie County on Monday, despite stating that she thought only teachers were prohibited from doing so.
Bell worked as a library aide and teacher aide at Texas High School in Texarkana between August 2019 and May 2020.
The single mother admitted to having sex with three students during that time period. Two of the children were 17 years old, while the other was 16 years old.
While the age of consent in Texas is 17, it is illegal for an educator to have sex with a student of any age unless they are married.

Investigation and Charged
Police began investigating Bell last summer after a teacher overheard a group of children talking about how one of them may have gotten the assistant pregnant.
A probable cause affidavit states that the students were mocking one of Bell’s victims by joking that he was her ‘baby daddy’. Bell was not pregnant at the time.
A police investigation found that Bell had sex with one of the 17-year-olds at her home in New Boston in November 2019.
She allegedly began communicating with the student on SnapChat and picked him up at a truck stop before taking him home with her.
The victim claims that Bell put her young son to sleep before luring him into her room in panties and an oversized T-shirt.

Meanwhile, the second victim, also 17, told police that she also had sex with Bell at her home that fall.
According to The Texakarna Gazette, she allegedly visited her home on multiple occasions while she was ‘teaching’ him. The teenager testified that they had sex during one of those sessions.
Meanwhile, a third boy, 16, says he had sex with Bell in November 2019 and that she picked him up from her house with her son in the back seat.
Bell will be eligible for parole in 2023. She will be asked to register as a sex offender after getting out of jail.
