Ashley Dale Biography
Who was Ashley Dale ?
A woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of graduate council worker Ashley Dale.
Merseyside Police have revealed that a 48-year-old woman from St Helens has been questioned on suspicion of aiding a criminal, and she is the fourth person arrested.
Dale, 28, was found with gunshot wounds in the back garden of her home in Old Swan, Liverpool, two weeks ago.
Two men, ages 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of Ms. Dale’s murder and released on conditional bail.
A 21-year-old woman was also released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of aiding a felon.
Police have said they do not believe Ms Dale, an environmental health officer for Knowsley Town Council, was the intended target of the murder.
Cause of Death
Emergency services attended to her and found her in the back garden with gunshot wounds to her body. She was taken to the hospital but she died a short time later.
A post-mortem examination gave her medical cause of death as a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen said the shooter likely forced open the front door and fired “multiple shots indiscriminately.”
Police are working around the clock to establish a motive behind the attack and identify everyone involved, Chief Inspector Cath Cummings said.
Although progress is being made, I would still like to urge anyone who has information and has not yet come forward to do so as soon as possible,” she said.
‘Please don’t assume that what you know has been passed down from someone else, or isn’t significant enough to get our attention. I have a team of dedicated detectives who will make that assessment. Help us find justice for Ashley’s family and for a community devastated by her loss.
“From the extensive ongoing CCTV investigations we know there were people walking near the scene at the time of the crime. If this was you or someone you know, please reach out as you may inadvertently have vital information to assist in this investigation.
“Similarly, I would continue to ask taxi drivers and delivery drivers if they were driving in the area between 12:20am and 12:40am and if they have dash cam footage to contact us.”
Ms Dale’s death was one of three fatal shootings in a week in Liverpool, with nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel killed at her Dovecot home on August 22 and 22-year-old Sam Rimmer shot in Dingle on August 16.
Police continue to request information about the three shootings, with Merseyside Police reiterating their request for information about Olivia’s shooting.
