Antoinette Briley Biography
A Michigan woman was charged with the murder of her newborn twins more than 17 years ago, police said Saturday.
Antoinette Briley, 41, of Holland, Michigan, was charged with first-degree murder Friday for the deaths of her children.
The children’s bodies were discovered on June 6, 2003, by a waste management employee emptying garbage cans in an unincorporated alley in Stickney Township. The worker placed the bodies in the front lifting bucket of her garbage truck.
DNA Lead to suspect
Investigators used DNA from evidence collected at the scene in 2018 to identify the birth mother based on the latest advances in genetic genealogy, police said. Cook County investigators eventually identified Briley as the possible biological mother of the victims.
Investigators traveled to Holland, Michigan, and received a discarded cigarette that contained Briley’s DNA that matched the victims’ DNA.
Police learned that Briley was in Cook County and stopped her outside Oak Lawn after a traffic obstruction.
