A married Covid-19 doctor was arrested on suspicion of killing a nurse at the Russian hospital where they both worked.
Irina Zhuk, 21, was reportedly raped before beating and strangling her in an elevator.
Dr. Andrey Suragin, 30, told investigators that he was “drunk” and that he did not remember what happened after a doctors’ party at the Fatezh district hospital.
Dr. Andrey Suragin is accused of attacking 21-year-old Irina Zhuk at the Russian hospital, where they both work to treat Covid-19 patients.
Witnesses said the doctor wanted to have an affair with the nurse and that he “sexually abused” her several times, but she refused.
Both worked in the “red zone” of the hospital treated with Covid-19 patients.
Elena, a relative of the late nurse, said: “It is a terrible story. They say the hospital elevator was covered in blood.
She “suffered broken ribs and other injuries.
“He had s*xually abused her.”
Her family said that she was on duty and that she did not attend a party where the doctors were drinking.
Irina wanted to be a doctor and received “excellent” grades from Kursk State Medical University.
The Russian investigation committee said a murder investigation was underway and that Dr. Suragin was arrested.
“Due to the sudden hostility, the suspect caused injuries and squeezed the victim’s neck with his hands,” a statement said.
“Her death of him for him was due to suffocation.”
Her mother, Natalya Zhuk, wrote: “Her heart stopped beating.
“This celestial creature was cruelly killed by a werewolf doctor.
“His funeral will be on Monday.”
Friends said that Irina had a long-time friend in the Russian army and rejected the doctor’s advances.
Tatiana Tsybulnyak, Irina’s former school teacher, said: “From the ninth grade onward, her desire to become a doctor was so great.
“His death of hers for hers is a terrible tragedy.
“Eternal memory for you, Irina.
Dr. Suragin was arrested during the investigation.
His wife Anastasia works in one of the largest Russian factories that produces protective devices against chemical and biological radiation.
