Andrew Oldfield Wiki
Andrew Oldfield Biography
Who is Andrew Oldfield ?
A teacher and father of two who repeatedly abused a teenage girl while working at a primary school has been banned from teaching for life.
Andrew Oldfield was convicted of four counts of s*xual activity with a child in 2020 and is currently serving a four-year prison sentence for his crimes.
The 35-year-old has been a teacher at Horn’s Mill Primary School in Helsby, Frodsham, outside Chester, since 2018.
It was during his time at school that he repeatedly had s*x with his victim, a girl between the ages of 13 and 17. The girl did not go to Horn’s Mill School.
Oldfield messaged the girl about the sordid abuse and her plans to do it again on WhatsApp.
Victim
He was caught after her victim’s mother found messages from Oldfield on her daughter’s phone lock screen, where she urged the girl to delete her messages.
David Watson, who prosecuted at Liverpool Crown Court on October 23, 2020, said the woman confronted Oldfield, who initially told an elaborate lie in an attempt to mislead her.
Watson said the mother was not satisfied and was able to access her daughter’s phone by guessing the PIN.
She said she was so concerned about the “intimate” messages she read that she woke up her sleeping daughter and asked her about them.
The girl became very upset and, maintaining that nothing had happened, she asked her mother to promise her that she would not call the police.
However, the woman later challenged Oldfield, who initially said her behavior may have been “over the line”, but she denied any s*xual activity.
He went to Widnes Police Station the next day, where he confessed that he had been kissing, hugging and touching the girl, but denied having s*x with her.
Oldfield later confessed to having s*x with the boy. The court heard that Oldfield took the girl’s virginity and did not use a condom.
Watson added that the girl sometimes felt “empty and numb” from her abuse.
Oldfield, formerly of Widnes, has now been banned from teaching children in any setting again.
He has also been denied the right to appeal against the ruling, handed down jointly by the Education Regulation Agency (TRA) and the office of the Secretary of State for Education, Nadhim Zahawi.
The TRA board said of the abuse: “Mr Oldfield’s conduct was of the utmost seriousness and completely inconsistent with the standards and behavior expected of any member of the public, let alone a teacher in a position confident with the children.
Mr Alan Meyrick, acting on behalf of the Secretary of State, said: ‘Mr Andrew Oldfield is banned from teaching indefinitely and may not teach at any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England.
‘Furthermore, in view of the seriousness of the accusations found against him, I have decided that Mr. Andrew Oldfield shall have no right to apply for reinstatement of his eligibility to teach.’
