Who was Andrew Gillon?
Andrew Gillon, 59, from North Lanarkshire, Scotland, had entered the Postcode Lottery before falling down the stairs while at a friend’s house party on New Year’s Eve last year.
The Scottish Water worker died suddenly on January 7 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, during an operation to take the pressure off his neck.
After his death, a gold envelope was discovered in his home, revealing that he and everyone else at Shaw Crescent, in Wishaw, had won a share of £7.9m, which in his case amounted to £8,092. sterling.
Gillon’s daughter, Lisa Thomas, 32, said the winnings came as a last gift from her father, who had told her: “You won’t laugh when I win.”
The mother-of-three told the Daily Record: ‘When I was confirmed, I was absolutely devastated at first.
Mrs Thomas has raised the £8,092 on her father’s behalf and says he will most likely use it for a holiday, which he would have wanted.

She added: ‘We are all delighted.
‘We haven’t talked about exactly what we’re going to do with all the money yet, but probably a vacation to Florida.
‘That’s where we got married and I have a lot of amazing memories with my father.
“I’ve been five times and never without my dad being there, so it’s going to be painful, but I know that’s where he would want to go.”
Before finding out how much her father had earned, Ms Thomas previously said: ‘I feel emotional thinking about it.
‘Even if it’s the £1k minimum, my dad would have been over the moon.
