Ana Loera Wiki

                                              Ana Loera Biography

Ana Loera, the little girl, disappeared from Phoenix, Arizona, in 2017. Ana had been missing for three years, before her adoptive sister called the police on January 20, 2020 to report that she had been alone for two days and I was hungry. When the police arrived at the house, they saw everything in “disorder” and human feces all over the floors. Just a week later, firefighters were called to the residence for a house fire; When they arrived, they found that the attic was charred, and inside the drywall was the eerie find.

According to what Ana’s adoptive father, Rafael, had told the police at the time of the discovery, Ana had been convulsing and vomiting on the way to the hospital, before she died. Rafael confessed that he had waited several days for Ana to get sick before taking her to the hospital. Concerned that this might lead to her other adopted children being taken away, the couple wrapped Ana’s body and hid it in the attic. Since then, the death has been classified as a homicide.

Parents now charged with murder

The parents of 13-year-old Ana Loera are being officially charged with first-degree murder after the girl’s remains were found in a house fire in January 2020.

The Phoenix Police Department announced Friday that sufficient probable cause had been developed to add additional charges against Maribel Loera, 51, and Rafael Loera, 57. The couple have been in custody on other charges, including child abuse, since the investigation began in January 2020.

Investigation

The investigation began on January 20, 2020 when Phoenix officers responded to check on an 11-year-old girl who was left home alone in a home near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road. Authorities said the girl reported acts of neglect and abuse by her adoptive parents, Maribel and Rafel Loera to officers.

The Arizona Department of Child Safety was also called to the home that same night and took the girl into her care. A few days later, on January 28, DCS officials returned to the residence and removed two more children, a 4-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl, from the Loera’s custody.

After DCS left, a 911 call was placed with reports of a fire at the same residence. Fire crews found a large hole in the ground and also tried to ventilate the structure by pulling down parts of the drywall and ventilation.

“As they did so, they immediately stopped and observed what they perceived as human bones coming from the ceiling, resting on the insulation of the attic,” says police paperwork. Firefighters immediately contacted Phoenix police to investigate.

Later, the police discovered that the remains belonged to 13-year-old Ana Loera, who had been adopted by Rafael and Maribel.

When asked about Ana, who had not been seen since 2017, Rafael said that he moved to Mexico and did not want contact. He later admitted that the girl had fallen ill in July 2017 and they waited several days for medical attention. Rafael says that he died on the way to the hospital.

Rafael says they were afraid they would take his other children, so they did not report her death. Rafael said the girl was abused by Maribel and that her remains “probably” would show injuries. They reportedly kept the girl’s body in the attic.

Rafael said he was feeling “desperate” and removed the girl’s remains from the attic and placed them in the backyard before attempting to set his house on fire. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide.

Both Rafael and Maribel now face charges of murder, child abuse, concealment of a body and arson.
