Who is Allyn Walker ?

An academic who resigned from a Virginia university after saying it wasn’t necessarily immoral for adults to be s*xually attracted to children has been hired by a Johns Hopkins University center aimed at preventing child s*xual abuse.

“We are excited to share that Allyn Walker, PhD, will be joining the Moore Center as a Postdoctoral Fellow on May 25,” the Moore Center for the Prevention of Child S*xual Abuse in Baltimore tweeted Thursday.

The hiring comes about six months after Old Dominion University announced the 34-year-old would step down as assistant professor of sociology and criminal justice.

Walker was placed on administrative leave on November 16 after a firestorm erupted over the educator’s controversial argument that pedophiles should be referred to as “child-attracted persons.”

Walker insisted that it was important to use the term “child-attracted persons” instead of “pedophiles” because it is less stigmatizing.

“My scholarship is aimed at preventing child s*xual abuse,” Walker, who is transgender, said in a statement at the time.

Investigation

“That investigation was mischaracterized by some in the media and online, in part on the basis of my trans identity. As a result, multiple threats were made against me and the campus community at large,” she wrote.

“I want to thank Old Dominion University for giving me the opportunity to teach and conduct my research, and the ODU Department of Public Safety for monitoring threats against me and the community,” added Walker.

The Moore Center’s decision to hire Walker was criticized by critics, including Michael Salter, a professor at the University of New South Wales in Australia and president-elect of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, reported Fox News.

Victim

“To retain its ethical foundation, child s*xual abuse prevention work must be victim-centered. What is victim-centered about the claim that there is nothing wrong with being s*xually attracted to children? Salter said in a tweet.

“Researchers and professionals who work solely with offenders or people s*xually attracted to children are pushing too much prevention work. What these individuals say in an investigative encounter or forensic interview does not align with the victim report,” he added.

Luke Malone, a journalist who has written for the Washington Post, called Walker’s hiring “an incredible ending to a troubling chapter.”

Walker, who wrote a book called “A Long Dark Shadow: People Attracted To Minors And Their Quest For Dignity,” had previously acknowledged that use of the term “people attracted to minors” suggests to some that it’s okay to be attracted. for children.

Old Dominion had faced calls to fire Walker after the educator made the comment while discussing the investigation of him in an interview with the Prostasia Foundation, a San Francisco-based child protection organization.

Neither Johns Hopkins University nor the Moore Center immediately responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
