Who is Allison Bailey ?
Ms. Bailey’s critical gender beliefs include that s*x is biological and cannot change, and that the word ‘woman’ is defined as ‘adult human female’.
She today won her discrimination case against Garden Court, but she lost her case against Stonewall, whom she had branded as an “evil influence” on British society and workplaces.
Minutes after the trial, her friend JK Rowling tweeted: “Allison Bailey is a hero to me and many other feminists for refusing to abandon her beliefs and principles in the face of bullying and discrimination.” Congratulations’, and she adds: ‘And I couldn’t be more proud of my friend’.
In December 2018, Ms Bailey complained to her colleagues that the cameras had turned Stonewall into a Champion of Diversity, saying that Stonewall championed ‘trans extremism’ and was complicit in a campaign of intimidation of those who questioned the gender identity.
She founded the group LGB Alliance, which argues that there is a conflict between the rights of lesbian, gay and bis*xual people and transgender people, and opposes many of Stonewall’s policies, including the statement that “trans women are women “.
Today, a court upheld her claim that Garden Court discriminated against her because of her beliefs. She was awarded compensation of £22,000.
But the court ruled against her on other elements of the case and dismissed her claim against Stonewall, whom she accused of alleged discrimination because the cameras were part of the charity’s Diversity Champions scheme.
But the court did not accept that Ms. Bailey had lost work and income because of her December 2018 protest, or that she was harmed by delays in disclosing documents. She also did not accept her claim that a Stonewall complaint about her tweets was engineered by a colleague who supported trans rights.
A separate claim that Stonewall had instructed or induced discrimination by Garden Court, or attempted to do so, was also rejected.
She tweeted that it was a victory for her, saying: “This is a vindication for all those, like me, who oppose the elimination of biological s*x, women and same-s*x attractions as material realities.” It represents the judicial acknowledgment of the abuse committed against us. Women in particular have been maligned as intolerant, harassed and smeared as transphobic and worse, simply for asserting our legitimate rights and advocating for adequate protection.”
She added: “I lost my case against Stonewall, but I managed to expose Stonewall’s conduct and the enormous and, in my opinion, malign influence he exerts in the workplace on society at large.” Organizations that put the ‘Stonewall Law’ before the Equality Law or seek to silence others from legally speaking out against Stonewall may be acting illegally and will suffer the consequences, even if Stonewall does not.’
Ms Bailey, who is a lesbian, claimed that the LGBTQ charity convinced her employer, Garden Court Chambers, to investigate her support of gender-critical beliefs and sued both the charity and the chambers for discrimination.
A spokesperson for Stonewall said today: “We are pleased that the Employment Court has ruled in a decision published today that Stonewall has NOT been found to have instructed, caused or induced Garden Court Chambers to discriminate against Allison Bailey.”

She claimed to have lost work and income due to GCC’s involvement in Stonewall’s Diversity Champions scheme, which she said was “exclusive” and “discriminatory” of her beliefs.
Ms Bailey previously received endorsement from Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who tweeted an ‘inspiring’ photo of her friend to mark Lesbian Awareness Week earlier this year, prompting a row trans on social media.
Stonewall had recommended that GCC change the pronouns ‘she and he’ to ‘they and they’, Ms Bailey said.
Ms Bailey claimed that her income was down substantially “compared to previous years, particularly in 2018”, and blamed the central London law firm for “retention of instruction and work” after these interactions.
Garden Court had said that “there is not a shred of evidence” to suggest that she was deprived of her job. Mrs Bailey raised over £495,000 to fund her legal case.
