Alistair Hall Wiki
Alistair Hall Biography
Who was Alistair Hall?
Alistair Hall, 22, was found dead in his room at his student residences at Unite Chaucer House in Portsmouth, Hampshire, on June 27, 2020.
He had suffered a cardiac arrhythmia after overdosing on a drug that he had ordered on the Internet, the Portsmouth Coroner’s Court heard.
A month before his death, Mr. Hall had been told that his dissertation would receive a grade of zero because he was deemed to have plagiarized an example work given for his course.
Despite this, the investigation heard that the ‘dedicated’ student would still have graduated due to their previous grades. He was posthumously awarded a 2.1 degree in diagnostic radiography.
His future employers would not have been actively informed of the ruling either, it was said at the hearing.
A note found on his computer said ‘things went wrong too many times’.

He was referring to a previous suicide attempt, when he had problems with his A levels, and to his biological mother, who died when he was 18 months old.
In recording a suicide verdict, Coroner Christopher Wilkinson said: ‘He was a very special young man to his family, a very dear son, someone polite, kind, gentle, sensitive, respectful and dedicated.
“He seems that he had dedicated himself to his studies, he had ambitions in his life that he sought to develop, both academically, personally and professionally.

“ The work that he had done on that three-year degree where it was a college credit is reflected in his posthumous title. ”
Wilkinson said he believed the plagiarism charge had contributed to his personal struggles to “find his place in the world.”
He added: ‘In the end, those underlying feelings that had never left Alistair came to light, as well as the more acute pressures of the dissertation.
“ While I don’t think that’s the only reason, I can only believe that it had an impact on the way he thought. ”
In a statement read to the hearing, his family said: ‘Alistair was very special to all of us, a miracle baby from IVF, much desired and a beautiful gift to us.
“Tragically, his biological mother died when he was 18 months old.
“He was a happy, bright, kind, gentle and respectful boy.”
