Who was Alezuana Carter?
Alezuana Carter was a missing Philadelphia girl found inside a home with a gunshot wound to her mouth on April 18 just before 11 pm, ABC 6 reported. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Last week, Philadelphia police identified and arrested a suspect in the murder of a 13-year-old girl earlier this year.

Carter had been missing since October 2020, when she was still 12 years old, Fox 29 reported.
Thirteen-year-old Alezauna Carter, known as Libby, was found dead after being shot in the face in the 1500 block of Overington Street on April 18. Philadelphia police initially identified her as a 20-year-old woman.
“There is nothing you can do as a parent to prepare for something like this,” said his grandfather, William Orr. “We all live in South Philadelphia and the Southwest, so I have no idea how I managed to get into this neighborhood.”

After the murder, a witness told police that Rodríguez ran from the crime scene and said, “I shot him, I shot him in the neck,” court documents allege. The witness also said Rodríguez bragged and confessed on multiple occasions that he killed the girl.
Luis Rodríguez, 25, faces multiple charges, including murder, and is being held without bail, according to ABC 6.
An arrest affidavit quotes a witness who said Rodriguez ran from the scene of the Carter shooting and said, “I shot him, I shot him in the neck.” The same witness said that Rodríguez boasted of having killed the girl on several other occasions.
Police said surveillance video captured Rodriguez entering the home in the Frankford neighborhood of northeast Philadelphia before the shooting and exiting afterward.

Orr said Carter is believed to have escaped with some friends. She said it took police two weeks to identify her after the murder of her and notify the family of her of her.
