Alex Koo Biography
Alex Koo is a partner at Alber Elbaz, an Israeli fashion designer and founder of the AZ Factory brand, backed by Richemont. Previously, he was creative director for Lanvin in Paris from 2001 to 2015, having worked at other fashion houses such as Geoffrey Beene, Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent.
Alex completed his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology in 2015, where he focused on the indispensable arguments for mathematical realism. Since then, he has expanded his research area to broader topics related to the application of mathematics in science, scientific inference, and scientific realism.
Alex has also focused on developing new pedagogical strategies for some of the most important courses in the Department of Philosophy. He has revamped PHL245H: Modern Symbolic Logic to be a hybrid and flipped course, started the Logic Lab, and implemented teaching technologies like PeerScholar, Crowdmark, Mentimeter and more in his courses.

And as Alber always says, Lanvin was like his baby, he was our baby too. And we put everything there and we worked with the heart. So of course at work it was a bit challenging because he was the big boss. But at home … no, no, no … you know … and it’s not always easy to leave everything behind when you close the front door. But there is a lot of patience and understanding between us. We really trust each other. ”
Alber Elbaz: Cause of Death
On April 24, 2021, Alber Elbaz passed away at the age of 59. He died as a result of Covid-19.
He died at the American Hospital in Paris, France.
