CORONATION Street’s Simon Barlow actor Alex Bain has announced that he is engaged to his girlfriend Mollie Lockwood.

Alex popped the question at his two-year anniversary last year and kept the news under wraps.
Mollie, 19, said she wanted to “enjoy that time together” before telling the world.
Alex, 20, shared the news in a joint interview with Mollie, 19, saying he popped the question on a romantic date last year, but they’ve managed to keep the big news under wraps.
Talking to OK! magazine, Mollie said that Alex took a knee in October last year, and they told her loved ones at Christmas two months later.
“We wanted to enjoy that special time together, just the two of us, for a while,” she said.
Coronation Street star Alex, who has been dating Mollie for two years, added: “I thought, ‘If I don’t do it now, I’m going to get more and more nervous!’ I was pretty sure she’d say yes, but I was still blocking it.”
Alex, who became a father at 17 when his then-girlfriend gave birth to his daughter Lydia-Rose, previously opened up to The Sun about experiencing “dark times” and credited his role in Coronation Street. for saving him.
He said: “If I hadn’t stayed in the job I’m in now, I would have missed out.
“Corrie has kept me going and especially having a daughter has kept me going, it gives me something to do.”
