Akash Manzoor Biography
Akash Manzoor, 21, was expecting a child with the young woman, but she left him due to her violent outbursts of anger.
She later sent him abusive messages through social media and text messages saying, “You screwed up with the wrong family” before sending the revenge pornographic images to her mother.
The victim subsequently lost the couple’s baby during the hate campaign.
Akash Manzoor has been jailed for a year after admitting harassment, common assault, criminal damage and disclosing private images
At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, Manzoor of Spotland, Rochdale was jailed for 12 months after admitting to stalking, common battery, criminal damage to his £ 300 iPhone and revealing private images with the intent to cause distress.
He had known the woman for a year through mutual friends and they began dating her last October, but the court heard that he began beating her, including an attack that occurred on her birthday.
Prosecutor Joshua Bowker said: “She had planned to put on professional makeup to mark the occasion, but when she tried to leave her house, he dragged her back and punched her in the face.
He “fell to the ground where the defendant continued to hit and kick her legs and face while she held her head.
During one incident Manzoor produced a hammer when his ex-partner’s friends arrived at their home, making them run away
“The message would initially be friendly, but when she ignored them, he threatened her.
“He contacted her on Snapchat and told her that he expected her to have a miscarriage and called her a” rat “and a” prostitute. “At the time she was pregnant with their child and in fact had a miscarriage some time later.
He “he also called her on Facebook about her calling her ‘scum’ … he sent her explicit and nude photos and videos of herself. When she begged him to leave her alone, she said that she would not do it until she “got what she deserved from her”.
“Later, she sent the photos of her to her mother via Facebook along with the message: ‘Your daughter keeps begging me for sex.’
Manzoor initially denied wrongdoing and blamed the victim saying she caused her own injuries and was trying to “set her up.”
She changed her mind and pleaded guilty after she was denied bail. He has been in custody since his arrest in December.
In mitigation, defense attorney Keith Harrison said Manzoor was an “immature” man who had a hard time controlling his temper and that he had abused himself as a child.
But Judge Registrar Nicholas Clarke QC told him: “You were violent, aggressive and abusive towards this unfortunate young woman. These violent outbursts involved punching and kicking that persisted when she was on the ground. It is fortunate that she did not suffer more serious injuries. The disclosure of her private images was an act to further degrade and humiliate her. ”
Manzoor was also barred from contacting the victim for five years under the terms of a restraining order.
