Turkish footballer Ahmet Yilmaz Calik died in a car accident at age 27 on Tuesday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but Calik was pronounced dead at the scene under heartbreaking circumstances.
Calik was the only person in the car at the time of the accident.
The defender played eight games for Turkey’s senior team between 2015 and 2017 after progressing through the youth teams, although he did not appear at Euro 2016 despite being named to the squad.
He played his club football with Konyaspor until his tragic passing, joining the Super Lig team in 2020 from Galatasaray.

Calik joined the academy in Genclerbirligi at age 11 in 2005 and turned pro with his childhood club in 2011.
He went on to make 109 league appearances for them over six years prior to his three years at Galatasaray and signed a contract extension with Konyaspor in November.
Calik played the full 90 minutes of Sunday’s 1-0 home loss to Sivasspor in what would sadly turn out to be his last appearance.
