Adam Toledo Biography
Adam Toledo is a boy who was killed in a shooting. Chicago’s Office of Civil Police Responsibility has released graphic and disturbing videos of police body cameras showing the shooting death of 13-year-old Adam Toledo. The release comes after a prosecutor said Toledo had a gun in hand when admitting the shooting “was not fully reported,” according to WGN-TV. The videos appear to show Toledo throwing a gun and raising his hands when he was shot. Police previously said they recovered a 9mm Ruger along a fence near the shooting and posted a photo of it.
The videos are somewhat remote and everything happens quickly, but others also believe that Toledo had just dropped the gun when he was shot. Jason Meisner of the Chicago Tribune also wrote about a second video on the launch lot: “Surveillance video released today appears to show Adam Toledo throwing a gun (later recovered) over the side of a fence and turning towards the officer while being shot. . Everything happens in a second. ”

Adam Toledo was 13 years old.
The shooting occurred in March 2021, in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot held a press conference prior to the video’s release calling for calm. “Look, I don’t want to get into the real substance of this because the independent investigation is ongoing, but I haven’t seen any evidence that Adam Toledo fired at the police,” Lightfoot said at the news conference. She called the videos “incredibly difficult to watch.”

The first video, which you can see above, shows the officer shooting Toledo in about 2 minutes. It is titled BWC 1 | Shooting officer. The officer yells, “Hey, show me your fucking hands, drop them.”
This surveillance video shows the shooting from a greater distance. The outrage quickly spread on Twitter in some corners, but others pointed to the split second between Toledo appearing to have the gun and then his empty hands.
The Toledo family issued a joint statement with the mayor asking people to respond peacefully to the release of the videos. “Yesterday, the legal advisor of the Chicago City Corporation, Celia Meza, met with Adeena Weiss Ortiz and Joel Hirschhorn, legal representatives of the Toledo family,” the statement read. Based on the announcement by the Civil Police Responsibility Office that it will release the videos, both parties agree that all material should be released, including a slowed down compilation of the events of March 29 that resulted in the tragic death of 13 years -old Adam Toledo ”.
A prosecutor initially said Toledo had a gun in his hand
According to WGN-TV, Cook County Assistant State Attorney James Murphy made the comment about the weapon in an offer made during a bail hearing for a 21-year-old man who was with Toledo the night he was shot. WGN sought more information and now reports that the state attorney’s office “says the detail that Adam had a gun in his hand at the time he was shot was inaccurate.”
