Adam Oakes Biography
Adam Oakes was a young student at the University of Virginia who was reportedly found dead after a night of suspected hazing during which he drank an entire bottle of bourbon. His classmates found him dead Saturday morning after a party at the Delta Chi fraternity home at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

VCU and the Delta Chi national chapter suspended the fraternity after the Richmond Police Department opened an investigation into the death. The Oakes family believes there are many unanswered questions about what happened during the Friday night drinking session.
“We think he’s part of the hazing process and that he went too far,” Oakes’s cousin Courtney White told NBC.
White said Adam’s friends told them he was so drunk that he hit his head on a tree.
They said that sometime during the night he passed out and that when they checked him around midnight he was still breathing and was lying on his side. But the next morning he was found face down on the sofa.
“And when they turned him over, half of his face was purple,” White said.
Adam Oakes Obituary
Friends and family said Adam was excited to join the fraternity and said that he expected to be paired with an “older brother” on Friday night. His roommate, Alec Cardullo-Munoz, described the moment Adam learned that his attempt to bond with him had been successful.
“He came into the room very dizzy and said the president gave him an offer,” Cardullo-Muñoz told WRIC. “He just wanted to feel accepted and be with these guys.”
His father said that he had supported his son’s decision to join the fraternity with some friends of his from Potomac Falls High School in Loudoun County.
“He wanted to impress them and be part of the brotherhood,” Eric Oakes told ABC.
“Because he has practically no classes in person, he is in the dormitory, he is locked up.”
