He has been charged with one count of racially or religiously aggravated injury or serious bodily injury, four counts of racially or religiously aggravated common battery, and one count of racially or religiously aggravated criminal injury.

The court was told that Qureshi allegedly ‘struck a victim on the side of the head before walking away’ at 6.40 p.m., before striking another person ‘in the face with a bottle’ two minutes later.
Qureshi is also accused of having “assaulted an unidentified person in a supermarket” and a fourth victim on the street, whom the police have identified as a 14-year-old boy.
The court heard that at around 8:30 p.m., Qureshi allegedly “ struck ” a fifth person, who according to the police is 64 years old, rendering him unconscious.
The man was treated at Homerton Hospital for injuries to his face.
The judge described the accusations against Qureshi, of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, as “very serious” and took him into custody.
A trial date was set for the Snaresbrook Crown Court on October 1.
